ILLUSION TABLES

ILLUSION TABLES is a series of collectible light objects by k.ada / Ada Kobusiewicz. Positioned between furniture, functional sculpture and spatial intervention, the works translate questions of light, reflection, colour and perception into an intimate architectural scale.

Each table contains an integrated light system with recycled LED modules sourced from TV screens. The light can be switched on, switched off and dimmed through a touch sensor hidden inside the table. A short touch activates or deactivates the light; a longer touch regulates its intensity. The system includes a memory function.

The tables are equipped with integrated lithium-ion batteries, allowing them to operate independently from a direct power connection. Depending on brightness, the light can function for several hours without being plugged in, making the objects suitable for galleries, interiors, exhibitions and temporary presentations.

Concept

The series examines the instability of colour and visual experience. Light changes with surface, angle, material and surrounding space. What appears fixed becomes dependent on movement, position and context.

The image printed on glass comes from the documentation of ILLUSION, an installation by Ada Kobusiewicz exhibited in Graz in 2019. In the tables, this visual material is translated into a functional object: an illuminated surface that carries the memory of an installation into an interior scale.

Object and Use

ILLUSION TABLES are functional objects, but their function is not only practical. They create a field of reflection, colour and optical tension within a room, activating the relation between object, viewer and space. Their battery-powered light system allows them to operate independently and to be used flexibly in galleries, private interiors, exhibitions and architectural settings.
